Philosophy and Mission Statement
To provide the youth of the North Tahoe Public Utility District with opportunities to participate in recreational or enrichment activities (sports, recreation, arts, music, Scouts) that may not otherwise be available to them due to financial difficulty.
What is the Youth Trust Fund?
The Youth Trust Fund was established in order to provide the young people that reside within the North Tahoe Public Utility District an opportunity to participate in recreational activities that may not otherwise be available to them.
The North Tahoe Recreation and Parks Commission administer the fund. They raise money at the annual pancake breakfast that takes place the morning of the Kings Beach Snow Festival parade.
How do I or my children apply?
All requests must be from local youth residing in the North Tahoe Public Utility District boundaries.
All requests for funding shall be made on the Commission’s “Scholarship Request” form.
Requests shall be accompanied by a recommendation from a teacher, school official, or another third party who shall state how participation in the requested activity will benefit the youth.
The Trust Fund will cover up to 80% of the program cost to a maximum of $100 per request, up to $200 annually.
Recipients of a distribution that are over the age of 12 shall participate in a minimum of four (4) hours of community service with volunteer hours at the Recreation and Parks Commission Pancake Breakfast (the second week of Snow Fest, prior to the Kings Beach Parade) receiving the highest priority. If the recipient is not able to volunteer at the Pancake Breakfast, the District requests notification via e-mail or letter once the community service has been completed. Recipients will not be eligible for future scholarships unless community service has been completed.
Upon receipt of requests that meet all the above criteria, District staff, with the approval of the Recreation and Parks Commission, shall issue a request for distribution of funds on behalf of the child.
Applications must be received prior to the start of the program or class.
